KMBC: The Children's SPOT celebrates 40 years of helping kids with developmental delays and disabilities

Saint Luke's Hospital The Children's SPOT is celebrating 40 years of helping children with developmental delays and disabilities meet critical milestones. 

The Children's SPOT - which stands for Speech, Physical, and Occupational Therapy - has helped more than 10,000 children over the years. Children with a wide variety of diagnoses, including autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, premature birth, chromosomal disorders, and other developmental delays get the extra help and attention they need. 

KMBC talked to one mother who takes her 2-and-a-half-year-old son, Arthur, to The Children's SPOT for physical therapy after doctors said he might not walk.

"It's like Christmas morning every time we're here because the growth is consistent, and the people here... I couldn't ask for a better team to be working for my child," Bess Covert said.
