Saint Luke’s East Hospital Continues Distinction as Center of Excellence in Specialized Prostate Treatment Accreditation for a Second Year

Saint Luke’s East Hospital achieved accreditation as a Center of Excellence in Specialized Prostate Treatment (COESPT) by Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) for a second consecutive year. This accreditation recognizes Saint Luke’s East Hospital’s commitment to a high standard of delivering quality patient care and safety. In 2021, Saint Luke’s East Hospital was the first facility worldwide to achieve the COESPT recognition.

“It’s an honor to be the first hospital to achieve this recognition in both the Kansas City metro and worldwide,” said Bobby Olm-Shipman, Saint Luke’s South and East Region CEO. “We could not be prouder of our urologic services team for their exceptional patient care. Patient safety is our priority, and this accomplishment highlights our ongoing commitment and effort to deliver the best care before, during, and after surgery, reducing the time spent at the hospital in recovery and providing the best overall surgical experience.”

SRC is a nonprofit, patient safety organization that develops and administers best-in-class accreditation programs for medical professionals, surgeons, hospitals, and freestanding outpatient facilities throughout the world. Status as an accredited facility means that Saint Luke’s East Hospital has met nationally and internationally recognized standards.

Health care facilities and surgeons seeking an SRC accreditation undergo an extensive assessment and inspection process to ensure the applicant meets SRC’s proven standards and requirements. These requirements include surgical volumes, facility equipment, clinical pathways and standardized operating procedures, an emphasis on patient education, and continuous quality assessment. The inspection involves all staff working with the surgeon in the accredited program. Inspectors educate staff on best practices to help an organization improve its care and services.

“We’re proud to recognize Saint Luke’s East Hospital for its commitment to advancing and providing quality care for all patients,” said Gary M. Pratt, CEO of SRC. “This accreditation signals that this facility is among the best in this specialty and is dedicated to delivering the highest level of care possible.”

The board-certified specialists at Advanced Urologic Associates practice at Saint Luke’s East Hospital. The team offers the latest in technology and therapies to treat a full range of urologic conditions.

“I am so proud of our incredible team, and am honored to be part of one of the leading urologic programs in the region,” said Bradley Stanley, MD, a urologist at Advanced Urologic Associates. “This truly is a team effort and would not have been possible without the hard work, dedication, and expertise of our physicians, nurses, and team members who deliver excellent care every day.”
