Saint Luke's Rehabilitation Institute, a new state-of-the-art neurorehabilitation facility on the campus of Saint Luke's South Hospital in Overland Park, was unveiled to the public Thursday.

The facility will feature 17 different pieces of cutting-edge robotic equipment, many of which are not available elsewhere in the region, elevating the level of rehabilitation care in the Kanas City area and beyond.

KSHB talked to Dr. Brad Steinle, Medical Director of Saint Luke's Rehabilitation Institute, and one patient who came to Saint Luke's after suffering a devastating stroke.

"The tools of the robotics are what help us deliver more repetitions," Dr. Steinle said. "The repetitions help with brain remodeling in those patients with an injured brain from a stroke or traumatic brain injury. We think these devices are going to be a game-changer "
